A Beautiful Day For A Neighbor

He grinned. “I think this is very true but I think the cute makes up for the strange.” He laughed a little bit. “Not as in you’re strange. As in I don’t know you.” He ran a hand over his face for a second and then grinned at her. “Probably is smoother if I don’t explain that, yeah?” He grinned as she checked the wind and and his smile went wider. “Oh definitely a reliable weather girl.” He look down at her hand before he took hers with a smile.

“It’s good to meet you too Abigail. Sounds so formal for neighbors with pie.” He chuckled a little. “I was gonna invite you in to share some of this with me if you want. I know if I cooked something for someone I’d want to see them eat it.” He shrugged a little bit. “Of course that might be a little bit strange to invite you in the first time I meet you. Of course you brought me a pie….and I am talking way too much so I’ll just be quiet.”

He laughed a little bit and let go of her hand not realizing he’d held onto it that whole time. That probably was kinda weird too. Lucas let out a breath and looked at her with a smile trying not to over analyze everything. Normally he was better at this.

Abby blushed, smiling a bit at how warm Lucas’s hand felt in her’s. She grinned as she listened to him go on, thinking it was adorable at how he just talked and talked, it seemed to her that he was a little nervous, which she thought was cute as well.

As she took a moment to think while he finished talking, she realized that the idea of hanging out with Lucas seemed actually quite appealing, since the only guys she’d spent time with since moving to Carmel Falls was Noah. And he seemed genuinely nice as well, so that was a bonus.

When he finally let go of her hand she smiled, looking down for a moment before she nodded. “I’d love to help you eat that pie, besides, I have to make sure that it’s as delicious as I think it is.” She looked up from beneath her lashes, sticking the tip of her tongue out between her grinning teeth.

She moved forward and hooked an arm around his, smiling up at him for a moment before walking into the house with him, laughing a bit.

“We’re adapting to each other,” Stella said with a grin, “we’re forming our nap times at the same time. At least he’s not screaming all night anymore right?” Stella blew Noah a silent kiss as he banged down on his swing making a noise.

“You are so loud,” Stella said to him which got her a spit blowing response which caused her to giggle. She reached over and grabbed the remote turning on the TV which was currently on Family Guy.

“Um…something vaguely healthy,” Stella said, she still had some of the baby fat or she thought she did and she wanted to be rid of all of it soon enough, “so something with green. But not all green.” She laughed a little and changed the channel to see what else was on.

“Yes, thank god for that, I don’t think my ears could take anymore of him so early.” Abby laughed, throwing her head back against the sofa. She had had to start using ear plugs so she could get enough sleep for work.

She brought her head back forwards to watch Noah, thinking the little guy was more entertaining then television. As if Stella had read her mind, she turned on the TV, which made Abby smile. Listening intently when she started speaking, Abby nodded, raising a hand to tap her chin.

“So something green, but not all green… How about a salad and some pasta? I think I can swing that.” She nodded again, then snuggled up more to Stella. “…But not right now. Too comfortable. Limbs like noodles.” Abby wiggles her arms, then gave a sigh, rubbing her cheek against Stella’s shoulder.

A Beautiful Day For A Neighbor

playingwithprodigalsons:

Lucas bit his lip a little and smiled at her when she sputtered. She was…crazy cute. He wondered how he was lucky enough to have her show up on his doorstep. He made a noise of understanding and smiled wider when she said she was his neighbor. Then he broke his eyes away from looking at her face even though her eyes and freckles distracted him for a second. He looked down at the pie and gave her an impressed but surprised look.

“I’m Lucas McDonnall.” He reached out to take the pie from her with a hand and smiling a little at her stuttering at him which was adorable. “This is probably the best invite to a community I’ve gotten. Not that I’ve gotten many but I’ve never been rewarded with a pie just for being around.” He looked at her for a second then back down at the pie.

“And I am definitely a pie guy and I will most certainly be eatin’ this.” He pointed behind him into the house. “Do you wanna….” He trailed off for a second before he pointed at her as he realized where he knew her from. They still didn’t have their cable set up and he tended to watch the news just to have something on in the background. She was the super cute weather girl he’d seen on there or at least he thought she was.

“You’re the weather girl aren’t you?”

As she listened to him talk more and introduce himself, Abby noticed that he had an Irish accent. A really nice Irish accent. Oy vey. She had to try very hard to control her features, not wanting to look like some teenage girl in awe. Abby looked up at Lucas in time to see him look up at her for a second before looking back down at the pie.

“Well I’m glad this is a positive experience for you, some people might not appreciate strange girls with pie at their doorstep.” She laughed, then cocked her head when he pointed behind him, into the house. Was he inviting her in? Well, she guessed she could risk it, she did know self-defense so she’d be able to knock him over at least long enough to get away. You never know if you have a crazy neighbor, no matter how… attractive they are.

Her brows drew together when he pointed at her, and then she laughed. Abby nodded, holding her hands out at her sides as she did a little curt. This was the first time someone had recognized her.

“Yep. Yes, that’s me. I am your local weather girl.” She licked her pointer finger quickly and held it up in the air, looking quizzically up at the sky.

“I predict… 40 percent chance of snow, possibly some wind might be involved.” Abby nodded like she knew what she was talking about, then lowered her hand, holding out her other one to shake Lucas’s hand.

“It’s nice to meet you, Lucas.”

A Beautiful Day For A Neighbor

Lucas was sitting on the couch watching a movie and digging through the classifieds for a job. They hadn’t been here long. He just knew he didn’t really want to work for Frazier even though he’d offered that option to him. They already lived together and if Lucas was being honest the nightclub scene didn’t really fit him that well. He was a little more laid back. He liked crazy times but he wasn’t sure he could stand that every single day. It was the perfect place for Frazier. Him not so much.

He ran a hand through his hair and sighed a little bit at the less than impressive things in front of him. Lucas leaned his chin into his hand and looked back up at the TV. It was some of the way through Return of the Jedi and he was starting to think that the Ewoks had it pretty good. His eyebrows raised up and he turned around from the television when someone knocked on the door. His brow furrowed slightly looking at the time like he had some sort of plans when he really didn’t.

He stood up turning the movie down a little and he looked through the peephole and a smile crossed his face a little bit. A random girl showing up was never a bad thing. He unlocked and opened the door with a smile and stopped for a second looking at her. She looked very familiar.

“Hi there.” He wasn’t sure why he was here but he looked her over quickly and decided to be glad she was. She was very cute.

Abby smiled when the door opened, her eyes going a bit wide when she saw how attractive her new neighbor was up close, and she didn’t notice but it seemed like they both took a second to look at each other.

She sputtered a bit as she remembered that oh yeah, she had to speak words, then held the pie up a bit.

“Hi, my name is Abigail Kennedy, I’m your neighbor over there,” she pointed towards the house next to his, then moved her hand to join the other under the pie plate, “And um, I noticed that you were new here, and I thought I’d bring you this.”

She held out her pie to the man with a shy smile, looking down at it so she wouldn’t keep staring at him.

“It’s apple, I made it myself. It’s o-okay if you don’t eat it of course, some people aren’t pie-people.” Abby stuttered a bit, then looked back up at her new neighbor, smiling again.

A Beautiful Day For A Neighbor

Abby had noticed over the past few days that someone was moving into the house next to her and Stella, and sometimes she’d watch out her window, her active curiosity getting the better of her. They looked interesting, whoever they were, and she figured she could greet them at some point, that’s what the neighborly thing to do was, right?

She had been urged to socialize with people outside of work closer to her age group, and one of her neighbors did look at least near her age, so she decided to bake something and greet them properly.

It was morning when she decided to finally work up the courage, and dressed in a pair of blue jeans, Beatles t-shirt, and heavy red coat she walked over to the house next door, warm apple pie in hand as she whistled Mr. Rogers’ Won’t You Be My Neighbor.

Only as she knocked on the door did she realize that it was usually little old ladies or whole families that did this kind of thing, so she got a little nervous, but she made sure not to show it, keeping a smile on her face as she waited in the chill morning air.

These Crazy Friday Nights

ive-got-heartbreak-down:

Stella made a face and shook her head. She knew Abby was better than being just a weather girl, but it paid the bills for her and she enjoyed it so Stella was happy about that.

“People get pissy when they don’t know how things are going to be,” Stella said with a shrug. She twisted open the water bottle and took a sip before Abby sat down. She instantly grabbed her hand, squeezing it. She turned and grinned at Noah who was fascinated with one of the toys attached to the swing.

“Well Noah and I started a home porn business. He’s my manager and he’s hard as hell,” Stella joked. She winked at Noah, not being able to stop watching him. He just amazed her that he even existed.

“I fell asleep during Baby Mozart again,” Stella said with a laugh, “I don’t know why he likes it so much.”

Abby laughed then snuggled closer to Stella, letting out a small yawn before watching Noah with her.

She shrugged, picking some orange hair off of her black pants, looking at it for a moment since she couldn’t distinguish right away if it was her hair or her cat’s. “I dunno, it’s pretty calming I guess, and Noah is probably tiring you out.” Abby nodded against her shoulder, then looked over at the clock. It was still an hour or so until one of them would have to make dinner, Abby’s eyebrows drew together as she tried to remember who made dinner last.

“What do you want for dinner? I think it’s my turn.” She was still trying to get used to living away from her parents, so she’d sometimes forget that there wasn’t someone who was going to make you food without asking for it.
